In order to replace the air filters on a 991.1, you have to remove the rear bumper and the tail lights.

See! SO complicated! This is exactly why I would never buy a 911!
Never mind the lack of money. Ignore that.Move along.

I dunno... my 1984 Saab you have to remove the fuel distributor and air plate to get to the air filter.

And Porsche recommends changing the air filters more often than the oil.
Filters are every 15k miles, oil every 18k miles.

Get a 996. They are sitting right out on top in the back.

I have a 997. Same setup.

Not sure where you got that. Porsche recommends oil changes every 10k and air filters every 40k.

My friends Cayenne has a 2 year or 20k mile oil change interval according to the owners manual. Reading this thread it sounds like maybe they’ve revised/lowered the interval since then.

A Cayenne is not a 911.
Porsche recommended 20k or 20 years for the 997, but changing the oil every 20k miles in a 997 is a great way to cause bore scoring in an M96/M97. It’s widely accepted now that it should be changed every 3-5k miles (depending on if the car sees track time) or at least once a year (I’ll be changing mine soon at the one year mark after putting 3000 miles on it). Jake Raby of Flat 6 Innovations recommends every six months.
Porsche recommends to 10k oil change intervals for the 991. Air filter intervals are every 40k, just like the 997.
Cayennes have had bore scoring issues so I’m not surprised that the recommended oil change intervals would be revised.

I’m surprised they ever had that long an interval in the cayenne. The 3.6l is just the Same engine in the Q7 and toureg, and Q7 follows other audi intervals of 10k miles or one year. Interesting. And yeah, oil is one of the easiest and cheaper things to take care of that it’s silly to extend the intervals. I do mine at 5k or less on our pacifica.
